1. Be available – the more options clients have to contact you, the more comfortable they’ll feel that you won’t just disappear into the night after taking their money.
Provide a phone number, email, chat option and any other communication channel you can manage to give clients the reassurance that they can always contact you and receive a timely response (more on this next).
f you’re running a gym or a personal trainer service with more than one trainer, provide ways to contact each trainer directly. They’ll feel more secure knowing that they can talk to the person they already have a relationship with.
2. Communicate (go the extra mile for customer service) – Want to know the easiest way to build trust with clients? Respond! Answer every message, return every phone call or voicemail, reply to every email and engage with every comment.
The faster you can respond to clients and potential clients, the more you will reinforce the message that you are available and that you value them.
When you’re working one-to-one with a client you should be completely transparent. Explain your goals, intentions, and progress made.
Always remember a few personal details about your client whether it’s their partner’s name, what they do for work, where they’re heading on holiday, and above all, what they’re hoping to achieve or work towards.
Your clients will appreciate you taking the time to explain your methods and knowing that you listen when they speak.
3. Keep things personal – When starting a new business, it’s easy to fall into the trap of being overly formal. Presenting a very polished, professional image might seem like the right move, but you’ll run the risk of alienating clients who want to get to know you.
A personal trainer service is a personal service. Your clients will want to interact and engage with you personally so don’t be afraid to make your brand more personal. Speak from the heart, from experience and stay away from stilted scripts and formal language.
Remember that clients are always more likely to buy from a person they know and trust than a faceless corporation. So, don’t come across as one.
4. Always deliver more than expected – If a client feels lied to or deceived, you’ll lose their trust and their custom immediately. So, it’s important to NEVER promise something that you can’t deliver and to ALWAYS exceed expectations.
5. Up your social activity (be visible) – The more visible you are, the more trust you’ll earn. If potential clients see that you’re active, that you’re sharing helpful content, and that you’re receiving regular testimonials and reviews from clients, they’ll be more inclined to believe that you can deliver what you’re promising.
Remember that building trust naturally doesn’t come quickly or easily but with a little time and effort using the tips above, you’ll become known for your consistency and reliability.
